The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken legal action by filing a petition in the Sindh High Court, contesting the amendment of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act through presidential ordinance, ARY News reported.
The petition names the federation, secretary cabinet, and secretary parliamentary affairs as respondents. It challenges the legality of the ordinance, citing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa's three conditions regarding its promulgation.
According to the petition, the ordinance was issued without any emergency or immediate need. The PTI argues that the amendment should have been debated and passed by the parliament, and any government intervention threatens judicial independence.
