In a notable development, the United States has committed to supplying India with cutting-edge defense equipment, including the acclaimed F-35 stealth fighters. Former Indian ambassador to the US and BJP leader, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, confirmed on Friday the evolving dynamics of the US-India defense partnership.

A new 10-year framework agreement is set to be signed by the year-end, marking a crucial milestone in the bilateral defense cooperation. Sandhu highlighted the necessity of acquiring innovative, top-notch equipment to meet India's defense requirements, emphasizing the mutual benefits envisaged under this partnership.

Moreover, changes to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are being considered, which historically impeded certain US defense exports to India. President Donald Trump underlined the intention to increase military sales to India significantly during a joint statement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, furthering the defense ties between the nations.
