Armenia is exploring opportunities to enhance its regional influence by seeking observer status within the BRICS group, as confirmed by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. This intent was announced during an interview with an Indian news outlet, where Mirzoyan discussed Armenia's active participation in BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) events.
Mirzoyan emphasized the potential for cooperation and development that BRICS membership could bring to Armenia and the region at large. Alongside this move, Armenia is also keen on fortifying its partnership with India, a sentiment reiterated by Mirzoyan.
Earlier this week, substantive talks took place between India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Mirzoyan, with both dignitaries deliberating on several initiatives, including the establishment of direct flights between the capitals of their nations, Yerevan and New Delhi.
