Globally acclaimed Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi is no more. The philanthropist-cum-human rights activist passed away on Wednesday, January 23 at the Avenue Clinic in Harare. He was only 66.

Oliver Mtukudzi was considered to have been Zimbabwe's one of the most renowned and internationally recognised cultural icon of all time. A tweet was initially sent out a Zimbabwean publication Masvingo Mirror. Later his demise has been confirmed by a reliable family member. An outpouring of tributes has already inundated the social media once the death of Oliver Mtukudzi went viral.

The singer said during his interview with TshisaLive a year back that he was quite excited related to the release of his album. He already released 58 albums. Although he is mainly known as a famed musician, he was a businessman, human rights activist UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region.
