In a marked escalation of regional conflict, a militant attack on the residential compound associated with the Reko Diq and Saindak mining projects in Balochistan has sparked serious concerns among foreign investors in Pakistan. The assault, which targeted a facility housing foreign engineers, was carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) on November 30, leading to prolonged clashes with security forces.

According to the BLF's statement, the strike was conducted by the newly established Saddo Operational Battalion (SOB), commencing with a suicide bombing at the Frontier Corps headquarters followed by a strategic breach of the residential area. The battle with Pakistani forces lasted over 36 hours, making it one of the most extended and coordinated assaults in recent times.

The implications of this attack are significant, given its location in an area fortified due to multibillion-dollar investments, including Barrick Gold's operations and the Chinese-run Saindak project. The assault reveals an increased level of sophistication and organisation within the BLF, posing a direct challenge to foreign involvement in Balochistan's mineral wealth without local consent.
