Nepal police have unearthed 18 kg of gold buried in a village in western Nepal near the border with India. Police recovered the gold buried under land in Punarbas Municipality of Kanchanpur district, said Superintendent of Police Aabhushan Timilsina.

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the gold smuggling racket. Media reports quoting police sources said the gold might have been smuggled from New Delhi. Police, however, said the source of the gold is yet to be ascertained. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
