Canadian Intelligence Flags Threats from Khalistani Extremists and Foreign Interference
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) report highlights the ongoing threat posed by Canada-based Khalistani elements promoting a violent extremist agenda. It also reveals foreign interference in Canadian politics by China, Russia, India, Iran, and others. Despite tensions, no direct links to Indian involvement in violent acts on Canadian soil were found in 2025.
In a significant revelation, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has identified Canada-based Khalistani elements as a continuing threat, promoting a violent extremist agenda. A CSIS report for 2025, presented in the Canadian Parliament, also accused China, Russia, and India of meddling in Canada's internal politics through espionage.
The report marked the 40th anniversary of the Air India Flight 182 bombing by Canada-based Khalistani extremist groups, the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history with 329 casualties. Despite no Khalistani-related attacks in Canada in 2025, the report highlights ongoing activities as a national security threat, with some extremists connected to Canadian institutions for promoting violent agendas.
CSIS also pointed to global geopolitical shifts, noting foreign interference from countries like China, Russia, Iran, and India. While the report outlines India's influence through covert relationships with Canadian politicians and media, it indicates no direct links to violent activities on Canadian soil under the new government led by Mark Carney.
