AI in Teen Education: A Double-Edged Sword

Tel Aviv, Israel — As debates rage over artificial intelligence in education, teenagers have already embraced these tools, according to a recent survey by the Israel Internet Association (ISOC). The study highlights AI's role in everyday learning, revealing a significant frequency of use among teens for studying, information searching, and content creation.

AI is increasingly becoming the go-to solution for academic tasks, providing explanations, summarizing material, and drafting assignments. The survey identifies the main concern as the understanding of AI's limitations, such as accuracy and reliability, which remains inadequate among young users.

The growing reliance on AI risks overshadowing critical thinking and independent work. Disparities in digital literacy, particularly in evaluating AI-generated content, could exacerbate educational inequities, the report suggests. While schools and parents struggle to keep pace with AI's integration, teenagers report learning AI informally, underscoring a gap in structured educational guidance.
