Responding to questions from Congressman Bill Huizenga about his recent trip to India, Rubio emphasized the efforts of the Trump administration to solidify ties with the South Asian nation. He expressed confidence in concluding ongoing trade discussions, stating, "India is a significant strategic partner of the United States. There is immense potential to achieve more together."
Further elaborating, Rubio revealed that trade discussions are nearing a conclusion, with both nations keen to finalize the agreement. Meanwhile, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has welcomed Assistant Trade Representative Brendan Lynch to India, signifying progress in negotiations driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump's vision of deeper trade relations.
During his trip, Rubio also attended a bilateral meeting and participated in the Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting, emphasizing actionable items in areas like mineral supply chains and maritime security.
