In a conversation with ANI, Sena Latif, Romania's Ambassador to India, portrayed the burgeoning relationship between Bucharest and New Delhi as a 'complete partnership' gaining momentum across pivotal sectors, notably trade, culture, and defense. This sentiment was underscored by the recent second defense ministry-level meeting in New Delhi, spotlighting the strategic importance of defense collaborations.
Ambassador Latif stressed Romania's commitment to its alliances within the European Union and NATO while recognizing the necessity of amplifying engagements with international partners like India. She underscored the EU-India partnership as a cornerstone agreement, fostering ties between vast consumer markets and enhancing cultural connections, reflecting on the significance of such collaborations for global progress.
In light of the recent Malviya Nagar fire incident, the Romanian leadership, deeply moved, expressed condolences to the Indian people. Additionally, the Ambassador hailed an educational initiative under the Erasmus+ program, which saw Indian students from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences earning scholarships to study in Romania, symbolizing the vibrant cultural interaction between the nations.
