The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Tuesday that India and Bangladesh are engaging in Director General-level discussions to address border issues. These talks, held during the 57th Director General-level Border Coordination Conference between the BSF and BGB, aim to mitigate problems such as illegal crossings and trans-border crimes.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the importance of this bilateral platform, stating that both countries are committed to resolving mutual concerns. The conference, which began on Monday and will continue until June 11, is pivotal in exchanging views and building cooperation over border-related tensions.

The biannual conference, led by BSF's Director General Praveen Kumar and BGB's Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, includes a comprehensive agenda. Discussions focus on preventing fence breaching by Bangladeshi nationals, protecting BSF personnel and Indian civilians, tackling trans-border crimes, and addressing border infrastructure issues.
