In a dramatic turn of events, Sri Lankan Airlines' flight UL606, originally en route to Sydney, had to make an unexpected return to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) due to operational difficulties encountered amidst adverse weather conditions, the airline revealed on Friday.

The journey, which commenced from Colombo at 12:05 a.m., saw 207 passengers and 16 crew members aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the plane managed to land safely back at BIA, as confirmed by reliable airline sources.

In response, Sri Lankan Airlines swiftly arranged for a replacement aircraft, allowing passengers to continue their journey to Sydney at 5:51 a.m. the same day. The airline has reiterated its unwavering commitment to passenger safety, underscoring its dedication to high safety standards across all its operations.
