Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, emphasizes the strong demand for Israeli defense technology from European countries despite political tensions. He discusses the economic challenges from ongoing conflicts and stresses the role of innovation and energy exports in maintaining Israel's robust economic foundation.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, highlighted that European countries continue to purchase Israeli defense technology, accounting for 36% of Israel's USD 19 billion global defense exports, in spite of political criticism amid ongoing West Asia tensions.
Ambassador Azar acknowledged the heavy economic toll of the conflict, with costs nearing USD 200 billion. He pointed out Israel's robust economic foundation, supported by significant innovation exports. In 2025, a record USD 15 billion was invested in innovation, with notable business exits in the tech sector.
Azar also discussed the contributions of energy exports, like offshore natural gas, to the economy. However, he noted the severe impact of the conflict on small businesses and northern communities, calling for governmental intervention to restore stability. These multifaceted challenges underscore the complexity of navigating diplomacy and economic resilience.
