Chinese Travel Fair honours Rwanda as ‘Most Distinctive Tourist Destination’

Rwanda is being recognized as the 'Most Distinctive Tourist Destination' at Guangzhou International Travel Fair, one of the most popular travel events in China. The country as won the prestigious award due to the exclusive luring tourist packages it exhibited that also included cultural dances.

Organized by Guangzhou Municipal Culture Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, Guangzhou International Travel Fair annually brings together domestic and foreign exhibitors to introduce and promote their products. This year's edition ran between February 21 and 23 and the Rwanda Embassy in China participated with support of Rwandthe a Development Board.

The Rwandan products were also promoted during the exhibition. Even the live streaming of those products on the Chinese social media platforms attracted millions of viewers. According to the Rwandan Ambassador to China, Charles Kayonga, it has turned out very convenient for the Chinese tourists to travel to Rwanda as it is very easy to book Rwandan tourism products online via VisitRwanda flagship store on 'Fliggy,' a tourist app for Alibaba, China's largest e-Commerce platform, as reported by The New Times.

On the other hand, RwandAir's planned commercial flights to China's Guangzhou will further boost the trade between the two countries, Kayonga said.
