South Africa's ANC gets 30.76% of vote in municipal elections, official results show
South Africa's African National Congress won 30.76% of the vote in municipal elections, while its nearest rival the Democratic Alliance got 24.64% of the vote, official results showed on Sunday. At the last municipal elections in 2021 the ANC got 45.59% of the vote.
The outcome of this year's elections is a further painful setback for the ANC, which has seen its vote share fall steadily in local elections over the last 15 years due largely to failures in basic services such as water and electricity.
