British Prime Minister Theresa May said a meeting with her Conservative lawmakers ahead of a vote on her Brexit deal on Tuesday was "sufficient", when asked if it had gone well. Conservative lawmakers and ministers attending a meeting just hours before parliament was due to vote on May's tweaked deal, with eurosceptic politicians questioning how legally watertight the new assurances were from the European Union.

"It was a serious meeting," said Work and Pensions minister Amber Rudd. "The tone was very thoughtful ... some people are not completely convinced but are clearly thinking about it. She made the point that we must look at this politically as well as ... legally, what the consequences are for the country if we don't get this through." "I think she's going to win tonight, I think we're all going to win tonight. Otherwise the instability that will follow will be so unwelcome."
