Gang arrested for transporting cannabis in Spain

A gang transporting three tons of cannabis from Gibraltar and Morocco to towns along Spain's Costa del Sol tourist resorts has been arrested, Spanish police said on Monday. The gang, made up of Britons, Germans and Spaniards, had its headquarters in the upmarket town of Marbella, where it sold the drugs. It was led by a Spanish woman and her German partner.

Police said in a statement that the gang rented pleasure yachts to smuggle the drugs to marinas along the Costa del Sol. The authorities also seized 630,000 euros in cash, a drone, four cars and 30 mobile telephones. After being charged with membership of a criminal organisation and drug trafficking, four of the detainees were jailed, the police said.
