The leader of Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party on Friday said leaving the European Union was "chaotic" because of intransigence in Brussels and ineffectiveness in London.

"The Prime Minister's latest plea to Brussels for an extension to Article 50 is unsurprising but unsatisfactory," the DUP leader Arlene Foster said in a statement. "It should not have been like this. Exiting the EU has become chaotic because of intransigence in Brussels and ineffectiveness in London."
