Report: Nuggets will pick up Millsap's $30M option

The Denver Nuggets will keep power forward Paul Millsap after deciding to pick up the $30 million option on his contract, ESPN reported on Saturday. Millsap, 34, is a four-time All-Star who averaged 12.6 points and 7.2 rebounds last season. He has spent the past two seasons with the Nuggets after beginning his career with the Utah Jazz (2006-13) and Atlanta Hawks (2013-17).

Denver hopes to make another deep playoff run after reaching Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals last season. The Nuggets expect to bring back 12 players, with Millsap making up a part of a talented trio that includes Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. "From how I want to do it, how I want my story to be told, [this is] definitely the group that can help me do it," Millsap said to reporters after the season. "That's definitely a dream and a goal of mine. I think it's the goal for everybody, especially the younger guys."

Millsap has averaged 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in 945 career games. He was a second-round pick (No. 47 overall) out of Louisiana Tech in 2006. --Field Level Media
