The Minnesota Timberwolves and forward Jake Layman agreed to a three-year, $11.5 million contract Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. A restricted free agent, Layman is heading to Minnesota via a sign-and-trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, per the report, which added the Wolves will absorb Layman via a trade exception. It's unclear what the Blazers will receive in return.

In comments to ESPN, Layman's agent, Mark Bartelstein, thanked Portland for helping facilitate the deal. Layman, 25, spent the first three years of his career with the Trail Blazers.

After spending most of his first two seasons on the bench, Layman developed into a nice rotation player for Portland. Playing in 71 games (33 starts) during the 2018-19 season, he averaged 7.6 points on 50.9 percent shooting in 18.7 minutes per game. Layman joins Noah Vonleh (signing), Jordan Bell (signing), Shabazz Napier (trade) and Treveon Graham (trade) in joining the Wolves this week.
