A 26-year-old man in Bhopal was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife to death after suspecting her of having an affair, and then burning and burying her body near a dump yard. The incident was reported on Sunday by the police.

The crime took place on May 21, and the perpetrator, identified as Nadeem Uddin, was apprehended on Saturday, according to Nishatpura police sub-inspector MD Ahirwar, the officer in charge of the investigation.

Authorities have recovered some unburnt body parts of the 22-year-old victim and have sent them for forensic examination. The victim had been staying at her parents' home in Murli Nagar after her relationship with her husband worsened. She was reported missing on May 21 by her parents, leading to the police investigation.

The police interrogated Uddin, who confessed to the crime during questioning. He claimed he suspected his wife of being in a relationship with another man. On May 21, he lured her to Karond crossing, took her mobile phone, and, after seeing a video on it, strangled her in a fit of rage.

He then transported her body in his auto-rickshaw to a location 2 km away, where he burned it with kerosene and buried the remains at a waste dump. Uddin has been charged under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder) and other relevant charges, and the police are continuing their investigation.
