A convict involved in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, which resulted in 257 fatalities and over 1,000 injuries, faced a brutal and fatal attack at Kalamba Central Jail in Kolhapur on Sunday. Police reports indicate that an argument in the bathroom area of the prison led to the shocking violence.

The victim, 59-year-old Munna alias Mohammad Ali Khan, was serving a life sentence when he got into a dispute with other inmates. During the altercation, some under-trial inmates reportedly removed an iron cover from the drainage system and struck Khan's head with it, causing him to collapse. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Khan was declared dead.

The attackers, identified as Prateek alias Pilya Suresh Patil, Deepak Netaji Khot, Sandeep Shankar Chavan, Rituraj Vinayak Inamdar, and Saurabh Vikas, have been charged with murder, and Kolhapur Police plans to arrest them soon.
