In response to escalating violence and attacks on police outposts by suspected militants, the Manipur government has transferred Jiribam SP A Ghanashyam Sharma to the position of additional director at the Manipur Police Training College.
According to official sources, M Pradip Singh, who previously held the role of additional director at the college, has now been appointed as the senior superintendent of police for the Jiribam district. The decision came shortly after incidents of arson at police outposts and forest beat offices in the district, leading to a swift security response.
Authorities reveal that more than 70 houses were torched, prompting residents to flee to relief camps. The situation further deteriorated following the murder of 59-year-old Soibam Saratkumar Singh, exacerbating tensions in an area that had remained relatively calm amid ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur since last year.
