Coordinated and concentrated offensives against Naxalites in Jharkhand have limited their activities to just five of the 24 districts, with Chaibasa being the most impacted area, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh revealed on Monday. Continuous operations aim to further minimize the rebel threat, Singh noted, highlighting the visible impact of these efforts statewide.

Singh made these observations while addressing reporters post a review meeting discussing key issues such as law and order, the Naxal menace, and crime control. He expressed a confident outlook that ongoing anti-Naxal operations will soon lead to a notable decrease in related incidents.

The police have gathered detailed intelligence on Naxalite movements and hideouts, leading to intensified operations, with over 400 arrests made last year, Singh stated. He also mentioned that special campaigns are in progress to curb drug trafficking, resulting in significant opium seizures and actions against drug peddlers under the NDPS Act.

The Jharkhand High Court recently censured the state government for inadequate efforts in tackling drug trafficking. Other discussion points at the meeting included the recent Lok Sabha elections, crime control, law and order issues, and the handling of cases under the POCSO Act.

Highlighting the incident-free Lok Sabha elections, Singh noted that discussions also covered the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for later this year. The meeting saw participation from SPs of various districts, DIGs, IGs, and other senior officials.
