In a dramatic turn of events, a gangster was apprehended in Delhi's Kalindi Kunj area as he sought vengeance against a man involved with his wife during his incarceration, police officials disclosed on Monday.

The arrested individual, identified as Akash alias Kana from Madanpur Khadar, was determined to track down Ranjan, a member linked to the Shahrukh and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, who had taken his wife while he was jailed. In a retaliation effort, Akash set Ranjan’s house ablaze at the end of August.

“Kana is implicated in several cases, including a robbery-cum-murder in Sarita Vihar. Post his bail release in 2023, he discovered his wife cohabiting with Ranjan. This led to him setting Ranjan's house on fire, causing severe injuries,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Paweriya.

The police had received intel on Akash's movement, noting his possession of a loaded pistol while hunting for Ranjan. A special team apprehended him on Jaitpur Kalindi Kunj Road, where he defied arrest but was ultimately overpowered, police confirmed.

During interrogation, Akash confessed that his wife's infidelity drove him to plan Ranjan's murder, officers said.
