Punjab Police Crackdown: 7 Kg Heroin Seized, Accused Arrested

The Punjab Police arrested two individuals and seized over seven kilograms of heroin and 16 cartridges in Amritsar. This operation, led by Counter Intelligence officers, targeted trans-border drug smuggling networks involving drones from Pakistan. Legal cases have been registered, and investigations are ongoing.

The Punjab Police have successfully apprehended two individuals and confiscated more than seven kilograms of heroin and 16 cartridges in a recent operation.

According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the arrests were made by the Counter Intelligence wing in Amritsar.

In an intelligence-driven operation aimed at dismantling trans-border narcotic-smuggling networks, authorities intercepted the suspects and seized 7.5 kilograms of heroin, 16 live cartridges, and one motorcycle. It was revealed that drones were employed to transport drugs from a Pakistan-based smuggler, Yadav confirmed in a social media post.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act in Amritsar.

Investigations are currently underway to uncover both backward and forward linkages, Yadav noted.
