National Conference leader Omar Abdullah voiced his concerns on the implementation of three new criminal laws in India. Speaking at the party headquarters on Monday, he urged the NDA to reevaluate these laws, emphasizing the potential for misuse.

'We had hoped for a new government post-elections to review these laws, but it hasn’t happened,' Abdullah remarked, highlighting that this is an NDA, not solely BJP government. He added, 'Human-made laws can be changed and should be reviewed.'

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam came into effect, replacing British-era laws. Abdullah warned of excessive misuse risks, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, before the entire country feels the effects. He also commented on jailed leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid's permission to take an oath as MP, pointing out Baramulla's continued lack of effective representation.
