Teen Stabs Friend Over Girlfriend's Attention in Gurugram Tragedy

A teenager in Gurugram fatally stabbed his friend due to jealousy over their mutual girlfriend. The 15-year-old accused called his friend under the pretense of drinking beer, then attacked him with a knife. The police quickly apprehended the accused and recovered the weapon. The victim was 16 years old.

A teenager stabbed his friend to death in Gurugram as he was apparently upset over his girlfriend talking to him over the last few days, police said on Thursday.

The accused teenager first called his friend from his home on the pretext of drinking beer and then stabbed him with a knife and ran away. The police apprehended the accused within a few hours and recovered the knife used in the murder from his possession.

The incident took place in Sector 40 last night, according to police. A security guard informed the police about a youth lying in a pool of blood outside a house in Sector 40. Upon receiving this information, a police team quickly reached the scene and discovered the body of a 16-year-old teenager, identified as a native of Chattarpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The deceased's family had moved to Gurugram 15 years ago and resided in Jharsa village. The teenager worked as a waiter with a tent house. An FIR of murder was registered against the 15-year-old accused at the Sector 40 police station, officials said.

A joint team from the crime unit and the Sector 40 police station apprehended the accused within hours of the murder from Rewari. Both the accused and the deceased lived in Jharsa and were friends on Instagram, police disclosed.

''The deceased had been friends with a girl for the last one and a half years. Recently, the girl also started talking to the accused. Upon discovering that the girl he was speaking to was also talking to the deceased, the accused grew increasingly resentful. Keeping this grudge, the 15-year-old accused planned to murder his Instagram friend and purchased a knife for Rs 150 on Tuesday. On Wednesday night, according to his plan, he invited the teenager on the pretext of drinking beer and then stabbed him,'' said ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya.

The senior police official added that the deceased's body was handed over to his kin after post-mortem. ''We are questioning the juvenile accused,'' he said.
