A Pakistan court acquitted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of unlawful marriage charges on Saturday.

Their lawyer, Naeem Panjutha, announced the court's decision, which was delivered in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Khan, 71, and Bushra Bibi were previously sentenced to seven years in February for allegedly violating Islamic law by not observing the mandatory interval between Bibi's divorce from her previous marriage and her marriage to Khan.
