The chronology of recent incidents highlights the severity of the situation: On July 15, four army personnel, including an officer, were killed in a gunfight in Doda district. The day before, on July 7, an army personnel was injured in a terrorist attack on a security post in Rajouri district.

Throughout June, the region saw multiple attacks, including the deaths of three foreign terrorists in Doda on June 26 and the killing of two foreign terrorists and a CRPF jawan in Kathua on June 11 and 12. Earlier in the month, on June 9, a tragic attack on a bus in Reasi resulted in nine pilgrims killed and 42 injured. The attacks continued in May with an IAF personnel killed and five injured in Poonch on May 4. April incidents included the death of a village defense guard in Udhampur on April 28 and a government employee shot dead by terrorists in Rajouri on April 22.
