CBI Arrests RPF Sub-Inspector in Bribery Scandal

The CBI has arrested RPF Sub-Inspector Bablu Kumar for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 70,000 to facilitate the release of a seized trailer. The arrest occurred in Navi Mumbai, and searches were conducted at his residence. Legal proceedings are ongoing, with the accused in police custody.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Bablu Kumar, a sub-inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) stationed in Navi Mumbai, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000. The bribe was reportedly taken to ensure the release of a seized trailer, according to an official statement by the agency.

Bablu Kumar, who was posted at the RPF's Uran Outpost, was arrested on Tuesday. The CBI further revealed that searches were conducted at Kumar's residential premises in the Kalyan area of Thane district as part of their investigation.

The incident originated from a complaint filed by an individual who had requested the release of a seized trailer. The court had scheduled a hearing for July 20, but the sub-inspector allegedly threatened not to release the trailer even if the court ruled in favor, unless a bribe was paid. Acting on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap and apprehended Kumar while he accepted the bribe amount. He has been remanded in police custody until July 19 pending further investigation.
