Tragic Case of Coma Survivor: Woman Dies After Identifying Attacker Brother

Wanda Palmer, a woman from West Virginia who awoke from a two-year coma and identified her brother as her assailant, has passed away, authorities confirmed.

Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger announced Palmer's death at WVU Thomas Memorial Hospital. In June 2020, Palmer was discovered at home with significant head injuries and remained comatose in a nursing home. Her brother, Daniel Palmer, was a suspect but lacked enough evidence for charges until she communicated from her coma in June 2022.

After identifying Daniel as her attacker, he was arrested but died due to poor health less than a week later. Further details on Palmer's health over the past two years are unclear, and authorities continue to investigate this rare and tragic case.
