Girish Chandra Murmu, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the auditing landscape. The Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) is incorporating these technologies to refine public expenditure quality.

Murmu highlighted, 'As AI evolves, so will our practices. We are committed to overcoming challenges and sharing global and local experiences.' He revealed a recent MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, focused on leveraging AI and other technologies to advance audit practices.

With AI, machine learning, and data analytics rapidly advancing, traditional audit methods are being redefined. The integration of AI-driven algorithms and predictive analytics enables auditors to analyze vast amounts of data swiftly and accurately, uncovering patterns and potential risks. Additionally, the CAG emphasized the importance of capacity building, spotlighting the International Centre for Audit of Local Governance (iCAL) in Rajkot, which aims to train auditors for rural and urban local bodies. The initiative seeks to strengthen local governments, thereby enhancing accountability and governance at grassroots levels.
