A Santacruz shop owner, Dinesh Madhavi alias Dinesh Maharaj, has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly purchasing stolen mobile phones from two suspected robbers, according to an official statement on Monday.
Madhavi, 48, previously detained for similar offenses, deals in mobile phone sales. He is accused of buying stolen devices from the robbers, who target high-value items primarily from women and senior citizens in housing societies.
In a recent theft in the Pydhonie area, two robbers stole an expensive mobile phone, which was later sold to Madhavi's shop. Following the complaint, police tracked the suspects and apprehended them, leading to the arrest of Madhavi with their help. The gang is suspected to have connections in Rajasthan and Gujarat. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
