A tragic incident struck the Indian Navy as the body of Leading Seaman Sitendra Singh, who went missing following a major fire onboard the warship INS Brahmaputra, was recovered on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.

The fire, which erupted on Sunday evening, caused significant damage to the ship, tipping it heavily to one side.

“The body of Leading Seaman Sitendra Singh has been located today after extensive diving operations,” stated Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, along with the entire Indian Navy personnel, offered deep condolences to the family of the deceased.

Commander Madhwal added that Admiral Tripathi has instructed that INS Brahmaputra be restored to seaworthiness and combat readiness promptly.

Admiral Tripathi also urged the ship’s crew to expedite efforts for the early operationalization of the vessel.
