The Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Safina Malik, the wife of Abdul Malik, alleged to be the mastermind behind the February 2024 Banbhoolpura riots.
Justice Ravindra Maithani extended relief to Safina Malik, who faces accusations of usurping government land through fraudulent means.
Safina had been booked under multiple IPC sections, including forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy (120 B). The February 8, 2024, riots in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani, erupted following a court-ordered demolition of an unauthorized madrasa in the primarily Muslim area, resulting in six deaths and injuries to several police officers.
