In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old girl was shot dead by her father, who then buried her body at a crematorium, according to police reports from Thursday.

The alleged perpetrator, Deepak, has a criminal background and has since been apprehended. During interrogation, he confessed that the shooting occurred accidentally on Tuesday while he was handling the firearm, which subsequently struck the girl in the head.

Employed at a courier company, Deepak admitted to concealing the body and falsely informing his wife and mother about the accidental death. Authorities revealed that the body was later recovered from the crematorium and sent for post-mortem examination.

Investigations uncovered that Deepak had previously faced two criminal charges, including attempted murder, and possessed an illegal firearm. A case under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the 25 Arms Act has been registered at Model Town Police Station. The probe continues, with financial tensions in the family deemed a likely contributing factor.
