MCD Acts Swiftly After IAS Aspirants' Deaths, Launches Anti-Encroachment Drive

Following the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants at a coaching center, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) terminated an officer and suspended another. Further actions included sealing 13 illegal coaching centers and launching an anti-encroachment drive in Old Rajinder Nagar.
The basement of the coaching center, Rau's IAS Study Circle, was flooded due to rain, leading to the deaths. The police have sealed the coaching center where the incident occurred.
MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar disclosed that a junior engineer was terminated and an assistant engineer suspended. The storm drains in the area were covered by encroachers, leading to waterlogging that contributed to the fatal incident. Mayor Shelly Oberoi is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting with civic officials.
