Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Monday that the state would replace the image of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on 'pattadar' passbooks with the official state seal.

The Chief Minister stated that no individual's image should be embossed on revenue records detailing generational assets.

In a social media post, Naidu remarked, “We are correcting the mistakes made by the previous ruler (Jagan) who misused power by embossing his image on pattadar passbooks... As promised during the elections, new passbooks will be issued with the official seal.”

Following a revenue department review, Revenue Minister A Satya Prasad confirmed that new passbooks will feature QR codes for accessing land parcel details. Prasad highlighted that the previous YSRCP government had squandered Rs 13 crore on embossing Reddy’s images on the documents.

Regarding the recent alleged arson of revenue records, Prasad mentioned that those responsible will face strict actions. Two deputy collectors and a senior assistant have been suspended following the incident.

Discussing the land re-survey, Prasad said the completion claim of 7,000 villages would be verified through gram sabhas. He criticized the expenditure of Rs 650 crore on survey stones bearing Reddy’s image, terming it public money wastage. The department awaits Naidu's directive on handling these stones, which will cost Rs 15 crore to erase the existing images.
