A 29-year-old man from Telangana, accused of raping a 27-year-old woman from Chhattisgarh, was arrested Monday night at an international airport as he attempted to flee to Australia, police reported on Tuesday.
The victim alleged that the man, hailing from Jangaon district in Telangana, raped her in a hotel in early July after promising to marry her. Following his avoidance of her calls, the woman lodged a complaint with Vidhansabha Police Station in Raipur, leading to a Zero FIR.
After technical inputs and credible information pinpointed the accused at RGI Airport in Shamshabad, authorities from multiple agencies coordinated to apprehend him before he could board his flight. The man and the victim had initially met online, developing a relationship over four months before the alleged incident occurred.
