Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday emphasized that the central government had issued advance warnings on heavy rainfall in Kerala at least a week before the catastrophic landslides in Wayanad, which resulted in significant loss of life and property.

During a discussion on the Calling Attention Motion in the Lok Sabha, Shah revealed that eight teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been dispatched on July 23 to support the Kerala government in any potential disaster situation.

"When the landslides occurred in Wayanad, the NDRF teams received immediate clearance from the collector, initiating relief operations right away," Shah stated. He also mentioned that multiple agencies, including the Army, Air Force, and a CISF unit, were actively involved in the rescue efforts.

Shah assured the people of Kerala and Wayanad that the Indian government would extend all possible assistance for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation. He reiterated the Modi government's dedication to standing firmly with the affected region.
