Telangana CM Welcomes SC Ruling on Sub-classification of Scheduled Castes and Tribes

Reddy emphasized that Telangana will be the first state to implement these changes, even considering an ordinance for ongoing job notifications.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday praised the Supreme Court's landmark ruling that empowers states to create sub-classifications within Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for quota allocation.
Addressing the Assembly, Reddy stated that Telangana played a pivotal role in advocating for sub-classification at the Apex Court. He expressed gratitude to the constitution bench, highlighting that six out of seven judges supported state empowerment on this issue.
Reddy announced that Telangana would be the first state to implement these sub-classifications and may even issue an ordinance to include them in current job notifications. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao also lauded the decision, urging for immediate implementation and pledging the party's support.
