A judicial commission has ruled out the possibility of a pre-planned conspiracy or police negligence in the murder of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf while they were in police custody.
The commission's report, chaired by retired Allahabad High Court Judge Arvind Kumar Tripathi, was tabled in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly during the last day of the monsoon session.
The report suggested the media exercise restraint and avoid live telecast and detailed coverage of police movements and investigative stages, particularly during sensational incidents.
