Karnataka Energy Minister Seeks Special Relief Package for Chikkamagalur

In a formal appeal, Karnataka Energy Minister K J George requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to grant a special relief package beyond the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) allocation, addressing severe damage caused by heavy rains and strong winds in Chikkamagalur district.
During a meeting with the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, George emphasized the inadequacy of the current NDRF grant in covering the extensive repair work needed. He urged the state government to provide additional funds as a special case to mitigate the calamity's impact.
George detailed the disastrous effects of the weather, including collapsed houses, damaged roads, and disrupted connectivity. He announced temporary compensation and underscored the need for a comprehensive solution for landslide prevention, urging further financial support from the state.
