Missing Arunachal Pradesh Men Feared in Chinese Custody

Two men from Arunachal Pradesh have been missing for almost two years near the India-China border and are believed to be in the custody of the People's Liberation Army. Despite repeated attempts by local authorities and family members, there has been no acknowledgment or response from the Chinese side.

Two men from Arunachal Pradesh have been missing for almost two years from a remote location along the India-China border. They are believed to be in the custody of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which has so far not acknowledged their presence.

Batelum Tikro (35) and his cousin Bainsi Manyu (37) went missing from the Chaglagam area in Anjaw district on August 19, 2022, while searching for medicinal herbs. Tikro’s brother, Dishanso Chikro, stated that the Chinese army detained them, according to local sources.

Anjaw MLA and Minister Dasanglu Pul confirmed the disappearance but noted that the Chinese side has not acknowledged detaining the youths. Despite multiple complaints and inquiries by family members and local authorities, no significant progress has been made in locating the men.
