Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging him to establish a committee aimed at identifying and deporting foreigners who have entered Tripura illegally.

Debbarma alleged that numerous Bangladeshi nationals have crossed into Tripura from the Chittagong Hill Tracts, residing in areas such as Chawmanu and Gandacherra in Dhalai district, and Karbook and Silcherri in Gumati district. He stated that this poses a significant security threat to the country.

In his letter to Shah, Debbarma highlighted that the influx of foreigners has increased due to a weak security system along the Indo-Bangla border. He further added that there are reports of Rohingyas entering Indian territory via Tripura.

Debbarma called for the formation of a high-power committee composed of civil, police, and judicial officers to identify these illegal entrants and facilitate their deportation.
