An autorickshaw driver from Maharashtra's Thane district has reportedly been defrauded of Rs 10.6 lakh by an individual who assured to get his son a job in the Railways, according to police sources on Monday.

The police have filed a case against one Kiran Bhau Dalvi, a Murbad resident, for criminal breach of trust, cheating, and forgery, based on the driver's complaint, as per an official statement.

The fraudster initially approached the victim in March 2022, offering to secure a railway job for his son and provided a promissory note along with fabricated letters as proof. Despite obtaining Rs 10.6 lakh from the victim over time, no job offer materialized and the money remains unreturned. Authorities are investigating the matter further to determine the involvement of additional suspects.
