Following significant political developments in Dhaka, the Border Security Force (BSF) has enhanced security measures along the 4,096 km-long India-Bangladesh border. Locals have been advised to reduce unnecessary movement, especially during nighttime, as the force ramps up vigilance against illegal crossings and smuggling.
Acting BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary conducted a border tour, visiting key posts such as the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Petrapole, the largest facility of its kind in South Asia, and sensitive locations across North 24 Paraganas. Senior officers from the South Bengal Frontier accompanied him, emphasizing the need for heightened tactical and operational readiness.
The DG reviewed complex operational challenges, underscored increased vigilance, and addressed a Sainik Sammelan to prepare officers and jawans for any emerging situations. Locals, particularly in the five bordering states, were asked to avoid night movements and were updated on the reinforced measures to maintain border sanctity.
