Tragic Discovery: Woman Found Dead in O'Hare Airport Machinery
Firefighters found a dead woman entangled in machinery on Thursday in a secured baggage area at O'Hare International Airport. Authorities identified her only by age and stated she was not an airport employee. The cause and circumstances of her access to the area remain under investigation.
Firefighters discovered a deceased woman entangled in machinery Thursday morning within a restricted baggage-processing zone at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
Larry Langford, spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department, reported that rescue personnel responded around 7:45 am to a call about an individual trapped in baggage-moving machinery. Upon arrival, they found the woman caught in a conveyor belt system.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was 57 years old. Scott Allen from the US Department of Labor explained that the woman was not an airport employee, and authorities are uncertain how she accessed the area.
The scene was then handed over to police investigators. Initially thought to have been found at 2:27 am, subsequent checking revealed surveillance footage of her entering the room at that time, with her body discovered at 7:30 am, leading to a 911 call.
Police spokesperson Nathaniel Blackman mentioned that no one monitored the surveillance cameras in real time, and footage was reviewed only post-discovery.
