Nigerian Woman Arrested with Mephedrone in Palghar

A 30-year-old Nigerian woman, Idka Gift Joseph, was arrested in Maharashtra's Palghar district for possessing banned drug mephedrone worth Rs 2 crore. She was also found to be in India on an expired visa. The woman has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Foreigners Act.

A 30-year-old Nigerian woman was arrested on Tuesday in Maharashtra's Palghar district for possessing the banned drug mephedrone, valued at over Rs 2 crore, according to police reports.

Identified as Idka Gift Joseph, she was apprehended near a building in the Nallasopara area at around 1 pm. The seizure included 1,000 grams of the synthetic stimulant drug.

Authorities also discovered that Joseph had overstayed her visa, leading to charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as the Foreigners Act.
